Our Departments

How teaching and learning are organised at Hospital Hill — in the words of the heads of our academic departments.

The academic framework. Under the Dean of Studies, Mr. Dennish Nyagol, the school has taught 16 subjects under the 8-4-4 curriculum, with learners choosing a balanced combination (at least two humanities, two sciences and one technical) at the end of Form 2. Teachers follow a vertical-teaching model — staying with the same cohort through to their final examinations. Under CBE, Grade 10 learners (from 2026) specialise along one of three pathways: STEM, Social Sciences, or Arts & Sports Science.

Science & Mathematics

Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics — CEMASTEA-trained teachers and the move to STEM.

Languages

English, Literature, Kiswahili, Fasihi and French — with a strong drama and debate tradition.

Humanities

Geography, History, C.R.E and I.R.E — research-driven, with national project showcases.

Technical & Applied

Home Science, Computer, Agriculture, Art & Design, Business and Music.

Guidance & Counselling

Counselling, career guidance, pastoral programme and mentorship.

Boarding
