Heritage, ethos and the people who lead a school that has shaped young men in Nairobi for nearly half a century.
Hospital Hill High School began in 1977 as a mixed day school in Parklands, taking its name from the hill it first stood on. In 1979 it moved to its present home in the Highridge–Nyari area off Red Hill Road, and in 1983 the Government of Kenya took it over as a Harambee-assisted institution.
Over the decades the school grew into a double-stream and then a multi-stream institution. In 2015 it transitioned into a boys' boarding school, and today it is a public Extra-County senior school of more than a thousand learners. Under the move to CBE it is being renamed Hospital Hill Senior School — admitting Grade 10 learners from 2026 while its Form 3 and Form 4 cohorts complete 8-4-4 — proudly carrying the motto “Aspire & Inspire.”
