Supporting every learner to understand themselves, make good choices and thrive.
Established in line with the 1999 Ministry of Education policy, our department offers confidential, personal support that helps every learner resolve problems, make decisions and live effectively in society.

Group counselling is held in the houses on Wednesday mornings, with topics chosen around learners’ needs, while confidential individual counselling runs throughout the term — by referral or self-referral, with professional counsellors invited for complex cases.
Learners weigh their values, talents and interests and complete a subject-choice form with parents and teachers before the December holidays, after which the department and the Dean’s Office place them in classes. A career wheel at the assembly ground supports the process.
Thursday devotions have run since 2017, alongside weekend worship for Christian, SDA and Muslim learners, a school-wide Sunday service and an annual challenging weekend.

Our mentorship programme began with JKUAT in 2018 and was joined by Daystar University in 2019, bringing academic department visits and talks that broaden the boys’ horizons. The team is led by Mrs. Sarah Musembi with Mrs. Faith Ngaruiya, Mrs. Caroline Kimotho and Mr. Jared Otwabe, under pastoral patron Mrs. Mercy Njagi.
